High in Maine’s western mountains, Carrabassett Valley is where wild landscapes and rugged fairways carve a world apart. Inspired by crisp alpine mornings and endless forest views, the Carrabassett Tee is made for those who chase adventures where the sky feels closer. Built lightweight, strong, and ready for the next climb, hike, or round.
Carrabassett Valley sits deep in the western mountains of Maine, tucked against the backdrop of the Bigelow Range and fed by the winding Carrabassett River.
Originally, the area was seasonal hunting and fishing land used by Indigenous Abenaki peoples — rich with deer, trout, moose, and untouched forests.
The first European settlers arrived in the early 1800s, drawn by the area's timber, waterpower, and natural beauty.
-
Logging became the dominant industry — the mighty Carrabassett River carried massive timber runs downstream to fuel Maine’s booming shipbuilding economy.
-
Small mills and rugged farmsteads dotted the landscape, but the valley remained isolated, rough, and largely wilderness for much of the 19th century.
In the 20th century, Carrabassett Valley found a new identity:
-
The vast, rugged mountains made it a natural fit for outdoor recreation.
-
Skiing exploded in the 1950s when Sugarloaf Mountain became one of the first major ski resorts in Maine, founded by a local group of enthusiasts called the “Sugarloaf Ski Club.”
-
Adventure seekers, golfers, hikers, and fishermen followed, turning Carrabassett into a year-round playground for rugged outdoor sports — including one of Maine’s most challenging and scenic golf courses in the highlands.
Today, Carrabassett Valley remains:
-
A symbol of rugged independence, nature-driven living, and old Maine resilience.
-
Home to breathtaking trails, epic ski slopes, adventurous mountain golf, and a few hundred full-time residents who still live by the rhythms of the seasons.
-
A place where visitors come not for flash — but for authentic connection to mountains, rivers, forests, and sky.
